American Society for Agronomy’s International Certified Crop Adviser Program Joins Field to Market

Field to Market and CCAs unite to help growers measure sustainability outcomes at the farm level and identify opportunities for continuous improvement in productivity, profitability and environmental impacts

February 26 – Field to Market: The Alliance for Sustainable Agriculture is pleased to welcome the American Society for Agronomy’s International Certified Crop Adviser (ICCA) Program as a new member. The ICCA Program was established in 1992 to provide a benchmark for practicing agronomy professionals in the United States and Canada and is now expanding to include a specialization on sustainable agricultural practices.

“CCAs have a fundamental role to play in helping farmers achieve continuous improvement against key sustainability indicators while improving productivity and profitability,” said Rod Snyder, president of Field to Market. “We are proud to welcome the ICCA program to Field to Market and look forward to collaborating on the development of their sustainability curriculum and specialization.”

Certified Crop Advisers (CCAs) and Certified Professional Agronomists (CPAgs) have become trusted sources of advice for farmers as they seek to protect the environment, produce abundant, safe food and generate profit. Trained in the field of agronomy, these experts undergo rigorous training and testing and continued education to help growers adopt more sustainable crop production practices.

“The Field to Market program aligns well with the goals of the ICCA program,” says Luther Smith, director of professional development for ASA. “Field to Market focuses on helping growers measure sustainability outcomes on their farms. CCAs can help a grower interpret these results and make recommendations that can deliver continuous improvement in productivity, profitability and environmental impacts.”
