Farm Bill Passage Urged

Science Societies Join in Call for Immediate Action on Important Legislation

The American Society of Agronomy, Crop Science Society of America, and Soil Science Society of America join with more than 80 other agribusiness, conservation, and ag-related organizations urging Congress to pass a new farm bill this year rather than delaying the legislation until after the Presidential election. A letter to lawmakers states the farm bill provides essential resources to prevent hunger, which is especially critical during these tough economic times. The bill also addresses short and long-term job creation through streamlined and targeted rural economic development policies and investments in agricultural research.

The letter is available in its entirety, here:    https://www.agronomy.org/story/2012/feb/mon/new-farm-bill-passage-urged
