Food supply chain topic of symposium

New sustainability certification to be announced

September 14, 2015—The American Society of Agronomy (ASA) and the Certified Crop Adviser Program (CCA) will be hosting a unique event tied to sustainability and its role in the agricultural and food industries. The day of sessions will cover the whole food supply chain: input companies (seeds, fertilizers, etc.), growers, trader/mill, food companies, and the consumers.

The symposium is part of the Synergy in Science ASA, CSSA, SSSA International Annual Meeting in Minneapolis. They symposium will be held Tuesday, November 17, 2015. The meeting is sponsored by the American Society of Agronomy (ASA), Crop Science Society of America (CSSA), and the Soil Science Society of America (SSSA).

According to Eric Welsh, the symposium organizer, “the whole food supply chain will be represented on two separate panels with their own unique perspectives on sustainability within the marketplace.” Welsh is the Program Manager-Marketing & Business Relations for ASA, CSSA and SSSA.

Panel members include representatives from American Crystal Sugar, Archer Daniels Midland, Cargill, CHS, General Mills, Kellogg, The Mosaic Company, The Walton Family Foundation, and Winfield/Land O' Lakes.
